last night i got to talk to my dad :) for most people that may not seem like a big deal, but for us it is. we were out of contact for many years, and have just recently been back in touch. they are in australia, so the simple act of picking up the phone and calling is slightly more complicated - in fact, we're on skype so that we can talk and not have to sell plasma to pay for it. since i am in the central time zone, when it's evening in my world it's midday the next day in theirs, but we've managed to get a pretty good system going by which we get to talk at least once a week. dad's had to have some tests done on a hip that's been giving him trouble, and i wanted to see how that was - as it turns out he was going back to the doctor when we got off the phone to talk about the results. it's great to be able to share little bits of life (which ends up being the big bits, doesn't it?) with people that you love - technology can be a really good thing and i'm grateful for it!
in other news, husband has been working on a new cover band project that has it's first show in about a month :) he's very excited and i think they will do well ~ the singer is also a very talented musician, and since it's an acoustic project, there's less gear to have to tote (have you ever seen how much gear a drummer has to tote around? it's a lot!) just drilling it down to what's important for me, people, that's really the most important factor to be considered :)
and i promise, pictures are coming .....

there, their, they're
i enjoy the correct usage of the english language. i'm not a huge fan of punctuation or capitalization, as you may have already determined, but the correct spelling of the correct version of the word is essential in my opinion.
there, their and they're, for example ......
really, what's not to get? there goes the neighborhood, they're going to the store, their little car headed up the street. how is that hard?
i see it all the time, in blogs, on scrolly things at the bottom of 24 hour news channels, on news websites - and these people are theoretically educated. the devil is in the details.
************************************************************
i'm still getting the hang of this blogging thing - the problem seems to be that i think of really great rants, or find myself in situations that in retrospect are hysterical, but then life gets busy and before i know it the clock says 11:45 pm and i have to get up at 5:30 am. rude, i think, but there you have it.
and pictures ...... i have a ton of them that i'm planning to share ........... again with the clock situation though ..........
maybe i need a new clock?

shranin sundays
we love the rain, husband & me
*we*
and there is something very nice about a rainy sunday morning, coffee, snuggly being at home togetherness. that's what we have today, it's a little chilly ~ the patio doors are open and it's wonderful :)
*we*
husband and i are silly ~ we make up stuff like only two best friends can that a lot of times only we understand. and because we've been together since we were wee tots *well, not really wee tots, but a long time* we have lots of them. for example, rain isn't really rain, shrainin....and we're such geeks that a fabulous sunday is like the one we're having today, when shrainin and a little chilly out and we can snuggle and do house stuff and piddle and fart around....we're geeks, we know.
*we*
it's a good thing to be part of we, and now you know this :)
have a wonderful shrainin sunday

and we're off.......
this is new for me, but i am a huge fan of several blogs that i will be adding eventually. this will be my vent spot for those annoying things that happen when too many people try to share too small a space and are rude and inconsiderate. we've all been on both sides. i'll also post pictures that i take, or that i think are cool, shoes & bags and anything else that strikes my fancy :)
i think i'm going to love this, we'll see - let me know what you think!
